Happy 2 Years!

What a happy two years it's been.

With lots of posts, pictures, sweets, savories and words.

Thank you for reading my words on occasion and sharing in my big appetite for food and life!

I'm really excited for where Fruitful is going (we might even have a new url soon...stay tuned).

I am so blessed by the joy that this space gives me...the joy of creating hopefully fun and inspiring things for all of you to join in on.

Thank you for community and thank you for allowing food and your kitchen to create a community around you.

In honor of this celebration, I would like to share a special cake that I made for my sister's birthday recently.

It was my first time to make a classic yellow cake with chocolate icing all from scratch. And it really wasn't that hard, thanks to some great recipes to go off of.

This cake is moist and not too sweet which balances the rich, buttery quality of the two-ingredient chocolate buttercream.

Birthdays are for splurging...and sometimes that means butter. And when I'm eating soups and roasted veggies for lunch, I'm absolutely okay with some chocolate, buttery cake deliciousness on the weekend.

Happy 2nd Birthday Fruitful!
