First Fruitful Cocktail

For our New Year's gathering, my sister and I decided that we needed a signature cocktail or fun drink for the evening.

It is the new year, after all.

So, I began searching for a delicious drink that contained Champagne.

And I stumbled upon the French 75.

This is a drink that contains gin, Champagne, simple syrup and lemon juice.

It was definitely a good pick! All of the flavors melded together really well: the bubbles of the Champagne, the fresh citrus, the warmth of the gin and a bit of sweetness to tone down the sour lemon.

The guys in our group liked and it and so did the girls.

So enjoy this first cocktail recipe on Fruitful in that it is, as I hope most of my recipes are, easy, tasty and has a fun twist.

And do yourself a favor and buy the good London dry gin. You'll be able to taste the difference.

P.S. If you've never made simple syrup, just bring 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water to a boil until all of the sugar is dissolved. Then, take it off the heat and let it cool. Use after cooling or store in a glass container in the fridge until needed.
