Food Resolutions

Happy New Year's Eve!

Sorry I haven't updated much in the past week and a half. I have been loving not checking my e-mail, not paying attention to the outside world, eating anything and everything and being with my family and friends for a few days. Did I mention that I got some amazing kitchen things, too? A fancy icing spatula, tongs to get toast out of the toaster, a little butter knife and some wonderful Trader Joe's treats were in my amazing Christmas stocking this year. Score! Also, I felt so blessed with the time I was given with my family this year, and I'm looking forward to being in full-fledged wedding mode once 2012 hits us!

I thought this might be a good time and place to write out a few of my food goals for the coming year. Here's a list of some cooking resolutions that I would really like to shoot for in 2012.

1. Make homemade bread
I have never made homemade bread and would love to try that this year. It's been on my to-do list for a while and that packet of yeast in my cabinet isn't getting any younger. Oh and I want to make popovers too!

2. Host an awesome dinner party
I definitely haven't hosted enough eating parties this year. With my crazy work schedule and tiny apartment, it has been easy not to plan them. I'm hoping that this year I can have a handful of people over for several dinner parties, especially when I have a bigger space to work with in April!

3. Have a wine and cheese party
Like resolution #2, I have really been wanting to host a wine and cheese party. I would love to have some friends over this year for a wine and cheese tasting where I can serve exotic cheese on a cheese board, have yummy wines to sip and maybe even pull a baked brie off!

4. Cook more meals
Although I definitely get some good time in the kitchen most days, I find myself devoting most of my time to baked goods. While this is very fun and tasty, I hope to make some more meals and post them on the blog this year. Also, this should help me prepare for cooking for two when I get married.

5. Cook more with my fiance
Again, with my crazy nights/weekends work schedule, my fiancee and I haven't had as much time to cook together. I really miss how we used to just come up with recipes and dinner ideas on the fly and cook them together in college. I hope that we can do this more in 2012.

I would love to hear about other people's food resolutions for 2012, too. Feel free to leave a comment about them.

I hope everyone has a blessed new year.
Here are a few snapshots I thought I would share from my holiday this year.
