Wow. It's been a few weeks since I have updated. My apologies.
Life has been busy, I haven't cooked in awhile and I just got over the stomach flu.
Anyway, I have had some delicious meals over the past few weeks. So, here's what's been going on in my culinary world.
I made ANOTHER bundt cake...I'm seeing a pattern here! Instead of a fruit-filled cake, I changed it to chocolate chip to please the chocolate lovers over at the Flack home, my in-laws.
My future mother-in-law decided to make an entire Sunday bundt lunch for all of us to share. This included a jello mold, a bundt-shaped meatloaf, mashed potatoes in a round and even rolls that were slightly bundt-like! How fun!
Pressroom off of the Bentonville square is a fantastic spot for lunch, dinner or drinks!
It's a restaurant/coffee shop that just opened a few months ago and is quickly making a name for itself.
Jason and I had lunch there last week, and I had the most delicious lunch: a hummus sandwich with olive tapenade, spinach, tomato and lots of creamy avocado, and a hot, creamy cup of potato leek soup ($8 all together).
This hit the spot on a 40-degree day! I love when a restaurant can take a veggie sandwich and really make each ingredient shine. I would highly recommend anyone in the area to check this place out.
Next for my food adventures was a trip to somewhere I have wanted to go for a while: James at the Mill. http://www.innatthemill.com/index.php/restaurant
Jason surprised me with a fantastic dinner at this Fayetteville (or Johnson) landmark! Here's a photo of my handsome date. I was super excited that he was wearing a tie!
It was such a fun and fancy dining experience... a perfect date for V-day!
I had the dry onion crusted chicken with asparagus risotto and carrots and Jason ordered the hickory pork loin with goat cheese potato galette.
My entree was pretty tasty. Although the risotto had a bit too much garlic for my palette, I enjoyed it. Jason's pork had a great smokey flavor and the potatoes were rich and crispy. I really enjoyed how much creativity they put into the presentation.
And for my favorite part of the meal, dessert, we had their chocolate cake with caramel ice cream. It was warm, gooey, rich and absolutely delicious!
Wow! It has been an exciting few weeks in my culinary world. So exciting, that I might be taking a break from rich foods for a while. Sometimes you, and your stomach, just need a salad!
this post made me realize i don't think i've never eaten a bundt cake.
ReplyDeletealso that dish that jason ordered with goat cheese and smoked pork sounds like a dream come true.
