Fruitful Travels: War Eagle Mill

We have a picture from about 15 years ago of my mom and my two sisters and me standing smiling on a bridge in front of a mill in Northwest Arkansas.

After living in NWA for the past 7 years, I finally got a chance to return to this place: War Eagle Mill.

We picked a nice fall day while the leaves were changing to their deep oranges, fiery reds and brightening yellows to drive to visit this historic mill.

War Eagle Mill was built in 1832 and has been grinding grain ever since. You can read more about the history of the mill and their offerings on their website.

I really love the beauty of the mill and the cute little one-lane bridge that leads up to it.

And we even ran into a Mini Cooper parade on the bridge!

During our time at the mill, we ate a buffet breakfast at the Bean Palace restaurant made with all of their GMO-free products. Other than the grits being cold, it was really delicious to enjoy local meats and hearty biscuits. Eating on the top floor of the old home on the property felt like stepping back in time.

Next, we walked down two levels of stairs to the gift shop on the ground floor. And I wanted to buy everything in sight! Since I couldn't afford that I picked a few goodies that I couldn't leave without.

I was like a kid in a candy store being in the midst of all of the organic grains that were milled right where I was standing!

War Eagle is a great spot to visit if you're near NWA and I bet you could get some serious Christmas shopping done while there!
