It's Graaaaanola!

There are a lot of people in the world who don't eat breakfast.

And I have never been able to relate to those people.

I have always been a healthy breakfast eater, whether it's a hearty bowl of cereal, yogurt or biscuits and eggs. It's gives me energy and is another meal that I really enjoy.

I always like to have a variety of breakfast items around the house so I can mix it up each day. Depending on the day I could crave Greek yogurt and honey, an apple, a bowl of some honey-nut flavored cereal or even a pop tart (but only on a special occasion for that sugary treat).

One of my favorite cereal types is granola.

It's sweet and salty and crunchy and makes me feel so healthy.

I found out awhile ago that it's much cheaper to make your own granola and it's so easy. If you can buy your rolled oats in bulk, I bet you can get them for under $2 a pound!

Granola is also very flexible because it's a good snack anytime of the day and fantastic for breakfast on yogurt or with milk. Or if you're in a hurry, you can take a baggie of granola to work and munch to your heart's content.

It only takes about 25 minutes to make this granola and it will last for like a week.

Also, you can throw so many different ingredients into your granola depending on your tastes.

This recipe has cinnamon, coconut and a hint of almond extract for that nutty flavor.

The recipe is simple. Just mix the oats with the other ingredients (except for the coconut), bake it, throw in the coconut, finish baking, cool and enjoy!

  1. We make our own granola too. I use rolled oats, almonds, honey and a little olive oil, then bake. So fun and so much cheaper and better than store bought!

  2. I love making homemade granola... I have two main kinds that I make. One is a vanilla almond with honey and another has pecans and coconut and is sweetened with sweetened condensed milk. Your recipe looks very tasty, too!
