$1 for 8 meals

Lately I have been bitten by the talk show bug. I know, crazy, right?! I have never been one to enjoy daytime talk shows. Most of them just seem to be about a lot of things I don't care about. But, this was all before The Chew (http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/the-chew) began airing a few months ago.

Finally, a talk show about cooking, eating and food news. And it features some of my favorite chefs: Mario Bitali and Michael Symon, along with chef Carla Hall and Daphne Oz (daughter of Dr. Oz and a nutritionist, I think). Oh, and What Not to Wear's Clinton Kelly is also on the show. I love his personality!

Anyway, I have been watching the show every day for the past few weeks. I love that they share easy recipes, fun food facts and are socially conscious.
Today the entire show was dedicated to Feeding America (http://feedingamerica.org/) and learning about how we can help the 1 in 6 Americans who are "food insecure" or worry about where their next meal will come from. It is incredibly sad to think of how many Americans are hungry but great to know that volunteering and giving to food banks and organizations like Feeding America can help.

Please take time to consider donating to your local food bank, volunteering there and giving to Feeding America.
$1 can feed 8 people! Their website says, "Every dollar you donate to Feeding America helps provide 8 meals to men, women and children facing hunger in our country." It's incredible how far our funds can go to help.
You can find out how to get involved here: http://feedingamerica.org/get-involved.aspx.

Trust me, your life will fill so full when you take what you have been blessed with and share it with someone in need.
