Food Resolutions

Happy New Year's Eve!

Sorry I haven't updated much in the past week and a half. I have been loving not checking my e-mail, not paying attention to the outside world, eating anything and everything and being with my family and friends for a few days. Did I mention that I got some amazing kitchen things, too? A fancy icing spatula, tongs to get toast out of the toaster, a little butter knife and some wonderful Trader Joe's treats were in my amazing Christmas stocking this year. Score! Also, I felt so blessed with the time I was given with my family this year, and I'm looking forward to being in full-fledged wedding mode once 2012 hits us!

I thought this might be a good time and place to write out a few of my food goals for the coming year. Here's a list of some cooking resolutions that I would really like to shoot for in 2012.

Understanding the pomegranate

You may have seen it at the grocery store and wondered what it contained. Or you may have seen a small, red seed on your salad and wondered what it was and what made it taste so tart yet sweet.

Well, I'm here to tell you that the pomegranate should not a be a secret anymore. The wonderful pomegranate is an amazing fruit, in the way that you seed it and the delicious crispness it adds to many dishes. I was introduced to this lovely fruit by my mom, who is a lover of the pomegranate and usually includes the seeds in our holiday salads. Pomegranate seeds are so beautiful and add a fantastic pockets of that deep red color.

Although it does take some time to de-seed a pomegranate, you should not fear that anymore with these simple instructions.
